A meeting of Pakhtunkwa Energy Development Organization's (PEDO) Board of Directors held, here Sunday to discuss launching of several solar energy projects under 'Access to Clean Energy' programme of Asian Development Bank.
The meeting chaired by Board Chairman Nisar Mohammad Khan and attended by Secretary Energy and Power Mohammad Zubair Khan, Additional Secretary Finance Akhtar Saeed Turk, Additional Secretary Home Nasrullah, Chief Executive PEDO Engr. Naeem Khan, President Sarhad Chamber of Commerce Maqsoodan Anwar Pervaiz, Dr. Hassan Nasir, Musavir Shah, Abdul Siddique, Arbab Khudada, General Manager Hydle PEDO Zakhid Akhtar Sabri and General Manager (GM) Solar, Taj Mohammad.
Project Director Solar Khurram Durrani briefed the participants about progress made on various solar energy projects in the province. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) PEDO Engr Naeem Khan informed the meeting that the program 'Access to Clean Energy' funded by Asian Development Bank costing to Rs4347million.
The programme would provide conversion of electricity in to solar energy for 8000 schools, 187 Basic Health Units and 4000 mosques in 25 districts of the province. The program would help reduce the cost of electricity as well as relieve the curse of load shedding.
The projects of connecting Civil Secretariat, CM Secretariat and CM's House with solar energy were in the last phase of completion which would enable public offices for provision of uninterrupted electricity. On the other hand additional electricity generated from these projects would be added to national grid and could be sole Pesco which would make revenue for government exchequer.
The meeting consolidated several committees setup for making appointments of contractors and consultants for Access to Clean Energy Program transparent and sought suggestions subject to final approval of the Board of Directors.
