The Karachi Port handled 269,117 tonnes of cargo comprising 173,076 tonnes of import cargo and 96,041 tonnes of export cargo including 10,355 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.
The total import cargos of 173,076 tonnes comprised of 119,122 tonnes of containerised cargo and 53,954 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. The total export cargos of 96,041 tonnes comprised of 85,491 tonnes of containerised cargo; 500 tonnes of bulk cargo; 7,550 tonnes of barite lumps and 2,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 10,355 containers comprising of 4,650 containers of import and 5,705 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,378 of 20's and 1,520 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 116 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,078 of 20's and 614 of 40's loaded containers while 467 of 20's and 1,466 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were ten ships namely MOL Gateway, CMA CGM Medea, Hyundai Colombo, Northern Dedication, Clearocean Maria, Sea Challenger, Immortal Gold, Sun Ploeg, Grace and African Lark carrying containers, tankers, clinker and barite lumps respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eight vessels Hyundai Colombo, Northern Dedication, YM Cypress, Pamba-1, Seattle-C, BW Lara, Al Mahboobah and Sun Ploeg carrying containers and tankers respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 86,974 tonnes includes 54,300 tonnes of coal; 7,502 tonnes of palm oil; 170 tonnes of soyabean; 3,000 tonnes of chemical and 22,002 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 46,172 tonnes includes 2,947 tonnes of rice and 43,225 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,533 containers comprising of 1,258 containers import and 2,275 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. There was one ship namely GS Fabulous carrying palm oil sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while three more ships namely Northern Julie, CMA CGM Medea and CL Kate carrying containers and coal respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, coal, chemical, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as nine vessels viz. Morgen Stand-1, IV Delta, IVS Hirone, BW Rhine, Georgia-M, Bei Hai, Stena Important, Asia Liberty and Scomln Hebe carrying project cargo, coal, diesel oil, mogas and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five ships viz. MSC Mariana, MSC Domillele, Liminionas, Althak Hira and Bei Hai carrying containers, soyabean, LNG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Grains and Fertilizer Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday.
There were three ships namely MSC Mariana, MSC Domillele and Althak Hira carrying containers and LNG respectively due to arrive on Monday, while two more ships namely Maersk Sentosa and MSC Valency carrying containers are due to arrive on Tuesday.
