A Senate panel on Tuesday reviewed the report of the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) proposed by Ministry of Maritime Affairs for the financial year 2020-2021. The meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Maritime Affairs was held with Senator Nuzhat Sadiq in the chair.
The parliamentary body reviewed the report compiled by the committee after having discussed the projects proposed by the ministry for the PSDP for the financial year 2020-2021. The committee had extensively discussed the proposals for the PSDP in terms of the proviso to sub-rule 7 of the Rule 166 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Senate, 2012 in its meeting on 30th January, 2020.
Ministry of Maritime Affairs Secretary Rizwan Ahmad ensured the committee that once adopted the ministry would take action for smooth execution of each of the proposed project.
The committee confirmed and adopted the report and decided to lay the same before the House in the Senate's current sitting. The meeting was attended among others by senators, Sitara Ayaz, Mohammad Akram, Ministry of Maritime Affairs' secretary, and other ministry officials.
Among other projects, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs has proposed a new project worth Rs1.087 billion for the construction of break water, boat repair yard and auction hall at East Bay (Demizer) Gwadar in next fiscal year 2020-2021 under the PSDP.
The project is aimed at providing a Break Water at East Bay (Demizer), Gwadar to facilitate the fishermen, which are going to be displaced from the existing fish harbor, mini port for undertaking other development works by the Chinese operator of the port and construction of East Bay Expressway.
