DSP escapes assassination attempt in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Banaras Khan narrowly escaped a life attempt when a remote-controlled bomb exploded at Chughulpura road in the jurisdiction of Faqirabad Police Station on Friday.

According to police, unknown miscreants had planted IED containing one kg explosives near a manhole in Chughalpura area that exploded with a bang. The prime target of the bomb was Banaras Khan, as he had passed from the area a short while ago. However, he remained safe, police said.

Soon after the explosion, security forces reached the scene and cordoned off the area and started a search operation to nab the culprits.
