At least 10 people were killed in a suicide blast that hit a police vehicle in Quetta on Monday, officials said.
Two police personnel were among those martyred in the blast in the city of Quetta. "We have received 10 bodies so far and 35 injured in Civil Hospital," a hospital official told Reuters.
Two police officers were among the martyred, a senior police official confirmed.
The suicide bomber wanted to target rally of a religious group, but blew himself up when police stopped him, Abdul Razzaq Cheema, Quetta police chief, told reporters.
Last month, 13 people were killed in Quetta when blast ripped through a mosque during evening prayers.-Reuters
dpa adds: The suicide bomber detonated his explosives in front of the Quetta press club, where members of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) were participating in a rally.
Mohamed said another 21 people were wounded and were being treated at the city's hospitals.
A spokesman for the ASWJ told dpa that at least 20 members of the group were wounded and that the death toll could go up because some of them are in a critical condition.
