Prime Minister Imran Khan will launch the Ehsaas Amdan Programme today (Friday) in South Punjab Layyah district. The program is designed to provide financial support to the most vulnerable women as well as youth, to earn sustainable livelihood. According to Sania Nishtar, the Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, some 200,000 families from 23 districts will benefit from the program under which goats, cows, poultry, rickshaw, agriculture and grocery stores will be provided to the needy. 60 percent female, 30 percent youth and 10 percent male would benefit from the programme, she said. The Ehsaas Amdan Programme is being launched under the Ehsaas initiative, with the objective to earning opportunities for the poorest in the underdeveloped areas. Nishtar said that the Rs15 billion program will change the lives of poor and needy persons, a limit of Rs60,000 per family has been provisioned in the program, which will affect the lives of 1.5 million persons. Some three districts in Punjab where this programme is commencing include Dera Ghazi Khan, Jhang, and Layyah. Whereas, the initiative would commence in 10 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa i.e. Upper Kohistan, Lower Kohistan, Palas Kolai, Torghar, Batagram, Shangla, North Waziristan, South Waziristan, Dera Ismail Khan, and Tank. Meanwhile, the program would commence in three districts of Balochistan i.e. Jhal Magsi, Zhob, and Sherani; and seven districts of Sindh i.e. Badin, Thatta, Sujawal, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Tharparkar, and Umerkot.
