The National Assembly session will be held on March 9, 2020, and issues related to the ongoing economic situation especially inflation as well as the current political situation will be discussed.
According to a notification issued by the National Assembly Secretariat on Friday, the president had summoned the session of the National Assembly on 9th March, 2020 at 4pm in the Parliament House, Islamabad. The president has summoned the National Assembly session in exercise of powers conferred by Clause (1) of Article 54 of the Constitution.
The opposition members would raise the issues of price hike, economic crisis and current political situation in the country in the Lower House of the Parliament.
Pakistan People's Party (PPP) senior leader and former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said, while talking to Business Recorder, that his party would raise the issue of price hike and the economic situation in the House. He said that lives of common man were in miserable condition due to the price hike in the country. Ashraf said the economic condition was the worst in Pakistan Tehreek-e-Isnaf (PTI) government, adding the PTI government had failed to fulfill all promises made with the people.
Ashraf said the government had promised to provide 10 million jobs and construct five million houses but the situation was only getting worse for the poor.
The PPP leader said that 10 million people had lost jobs, adding the PTI government had made many people jobless by destroying small shops and businesses in the name of getting rid of encroachments.
The PPP leader said the policies pursued by the government had hurt businessmen at all levels. He said the people had to pay for the damages inflicted on the economy. The PPP leader said that "Sugar and wheat mafias are free to loot the public."
