ANP's President, Asfandyar Wali Khan has congratulated the people of Afghanistan on the signing of peace agreement between United States and Taliban in Qatar and termed it a point of new beginning. In a statement issued from Wali Bagh Charsadda here Saturday, the veteran nationalist politician expressed the hope that long war on Afghan soil would stop after the agreement.
He said that after 18 years long bloodshed the ceasefire is a positive step towards peace for the whole region and a message of celebration for the people of Afghanistan. He said that the people of Afghan have rendered huge sacrifices for peace, millions of Afghans were rendered displaced and thousands sacrificed their lives.
The signing of the peace agreement, he said is giving a message that restoration of peace in Afghanistan is now not a dream rather has become a reality. The ANP chief further termed ban on Al-Qaeda, Daish and other terrorists organizations as welcoming, saying that the agreement will not only return peace to Afghanistan will usher peace in the whole region. For this purpose, he said that all stakeholders including Pakistan will have to play their due role.
He was hopeful that after agreement, all parties will guarantee granting permanent shape to the ceasefire as their no space for any mistake in the way of peace. So he is hopeful that mistakes committed in past would not be repeated as the break out of the war will have highly dangerous repercussions.
Asfandyar Wali Khan was of the view that after America-Taliban agreement, direct negotiations between the government of Afghanistan and Taliban is welcoming. He said that under the leadership of President Ashraf Ghani, the people of Afghanistan had elected their head of the state in a democratic manner.
