India's Modi is considering quitting social media

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that he is considering quitting social media. 

In a tweet from his official Twitter handle on Monday, the prime minister announced that he is thinking of giving up his social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube this weekend. Modi has over 30 million followers on Instagram.

On Twitter, Modi has 53 million followers and is one of the most popular figures on the microblogging social network. The premier however, did not reveal his reasons for quitting, saying that he will keep everyone 'posted'.

Following his tweet, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also tweeted to the PM and told him to 'give up hatred, not social media accounts'.
