United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has filed an Intervention Application in India's Supreme Court against the 2019 Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
According to a press release by Indian Ministry for External Affairs, India's permanent mission in Geneva was informed about UNHCR's Michelle Bachelet submission ofthe application.
The application by the UNHCR comes at a time when a clash between the protesters over the controversial bill took the lives of more than 40 and injured more than 200 people in Delhi last week.
The Bhim Army Chief Chndra Shekhar Azad approached the United Nations requesting an investigation into humans rights violations in India.
