Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Wednesday, Malik said Nawaz Sharif was sent abroad after clearance and approval from the government. “The medical board in Nawaz Sharif’s case was formed by the government and the entire machinery of the Punjab government was following the ex-premier’s health case.”
He maintained the government is highlighting false facts to the people regarding Nawaz Sharif’s health treatment.
The PML-N leader mentioned that Nawaz Sharif is not in good health and has undergoner a number of surgeries. He said the government should play a responsible role and refrain from conducting Sharif’s media trial.
On March 3, 2020, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote a letter to the British government to extradite former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to Pakistan, media reported on Tuesday.
The letter stated that Nawaz Sharif is a convict in corruption cases and he should be sent back to Pakistan.
The document maintained that a legal process will be followed to bring PML-N leader back to the country. The government further stated in the letter that the bail period of the ex-PM has expired and he should be extradited so he could complete his jail term.
The letter stated that Nawaz Sharif failed to present medical reports to the board formed by the Islamabad High Court.
