Addressing a joint press conference with Muttahida Qaumi Movement Bahadurabad (MQM) leaders in Karachi, he said the sole purpose of the meeting with MQM leaders is to create an environment of harmony and devise ways to deal with the challenges facing the democracy.
He maintained that the PML-N delegation met MQM leaders on the directives of party president Shehbaz Sharif.
He added the model that was adopted in the past failed to resolve the issues being faced by the country. Abbasi said, “We came to meet MQM leaders to find solutions to the problems being faced by the masses.”
He said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz had old and cordial relations with the MQM.
Shahid Khaqan said all parties have to set the rules of business before the next general elections. He highlighted that Pakistan can only be run by following the Constitution.
To a question regarding bail of PML-N leaders and a possible deal with the government, Abbasi said the matter of bail should not be connected with the deal. “Deals are made in closed rooms not in open air,” the former premier remarked.
He said PML-N is not part of any deal. “It is need of the hour that all political parties get united and work towards resolving the issues and challenges facing the country.”
He said the PTI government has failed to resolve issues and had brought the country on the verge of destruction.
Speaking on the occasion, MQM leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said the meeting with PML-N delegation was held in a cordial environment. He added the dreams of the country cannot be fulfilled by feudal thinking.
Siddiqui said all parties should work towards betterment of the country.
