Coronavirus: Misinformation being spread on social media: Ghani

The minister said that Educational institutions have been shut down as a preventive measure to prevent the Coronavirus from spreading. An estimated 13,000 visitors have come to Pakistan from Iran recently. Most of them came in Sindh province, he clarified.

Misinformation is being spread on social media, which should be taken seriously as the government is providing accurate information and nothing is being hidden.

He expressed these views while talking to the media after appearing before Sindh High Court bench Hyderabad in a case related to lack of teachers in some schools in Tando Allahyar on Thursday.

Ghani said, "Sindh High Court had summoned me in this regard. I told the honorable court that out of 49,000 public schools across the province, 13,000 are closed while there is a shortage of 37,000 teachers. In the past, some schools were built on wrong plans that are closed."

He said that the honorable court has been told that the recruitment of teachers on merit has begun as well as steps are being taken to improve the school system. On the question of changes in Sindh cabinet, Ghani said that changes take place in the cabinet around the world. The party leadership and the Sindh Chief Minister make decisions in this regard.

Ghani further said, "If I am the Minister of Education at this time, I would not do anything new. The things that were done well by the previous Minister Sardar Shah".
