The Karachi Port handled 94,750 tonnes of cargo comprising 53,015 tonnes of import cargo and 41,735 tonnes of export cargo including 5,753 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.
The total import cargos of 53,015 tonnes comprised of 46,292 tonnes of containerised cargo and 6,723 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 41,735 tonnes comprised of 27,578 tonnes of containerised cargo; 157 tonnes of bulk cargo; 12,000 tonnes of clinker and 2,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 5,753 containers comprising of 3,064 containers of import and 2,689 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,174 of 20's and 849 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 96 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 690 of 20's and 359 of 40's loaded containers while 445 of 20's and 418 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely Express Athens, Southern Dragon, Bhairavi, Ocean Spirit, Stolt Ebony and Chemtrans Oceanic carrying containers, chemical and mogas respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. Cosco Taicang, MOL Globe, Ocean Spirit, CSC Coral and Chem Bulldog carrying containers and tankers respectively currently at the berths.
There are two ships namely Cosco Hong Kong and MOL Glob carrying containers expected to sail on Friday.
There are three vessels viz. Northern Dedication, Smiley Lady and Karina Danica carrying containers due to arrive on Friday while four more vessels viz. Cosco Pacific, CSL Spophie, Heilan Brother and Mandarin Eagle carrying containers and general cargo respectively are expected to arrive on Saturday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 183,950 tonnes comprising of 166,432 tonnes of import cargo and 17,518 tonnes of export cargo including 1,672 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 166,432 tonnes includes 66,000 tonnes of coal; 27,997 tonnes of diesel oil; 11,500 tonnes of palm oil; 1,713 tonnes of palm kernel; 12,000 tonnes of soyabean; 536 tonnes of project cargo; 29,167 tonnes of LNG; 3,805 tonnes of LPG and 14,250 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 17,518 tonnes includes 17,518 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 1,672 containers comprising of 750 containers import and 922 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There were two ships namely MT Al-Soor-II and Ocean Flower carrying diesel oil and palm kernel respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while three more ships namely Smiley Lady, Jens Oldendroff and Star Manica carrying coal are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
There is one ship namely Maersk Brooklyn carrying containers expected to sail in the night hours of Friday.
A total number of fourteen ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, project cargo, coal, soyabean, LPG, LNG, diesel oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as sixteen vessels viz. CMA CGM Titus, Star Omicron, Unity Force, Santos Eagle, Africal Keto, Malhari, Sprule-2, Rosg Humays-1, The Odosia, JM Upasan, Alcy One-T, Songa Opal, Tiger Glory, Mega-1, FCL London and Horizon carrying containers, coal, cement, chemical, pet cock, mogas, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three ships viz. CMA CGM Titus, Malhari and Alcy One-T carrying containers, chemical and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.
There are two ships namely Diyala and Joppesen Maersk carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday.
