Journalists Hassan Mansoor and Ghulam Mustafa Farooq were laid to rest in Mewashah and Baldia Town graveyards, respectively, here on Friday, amid tears and anguish.
As per details, Mansoor, who was associated with Daily Dawn as a senior reporter, suffered a heart attack at his home which proved fatal while Ghulam Mustafa Farooq, an Associate Producer at ARY, met with a road accident on his way to office and expired the other day.
Mansoor's funeral prayer was offered at Masjid-e-Khizer in Saddar and he was laid to rest in Mewashah graveyard, whereas Farooq's last funeral rituals were performed at Madina Masjid in Baldia Town. He was buried at Baldia Town graveyard No-7.
A large number of journalists, civil society members, politicians and people from different walks of life attended the funerals.
KPC President Muhammad Imtiaz Khan Faran and Secretary-General Arman Sabir, Karachi Union of Journalists (Dastoor) President Tariq Abul Hassan and Secretary Muhammad Arif Khan, KUJ (Barna) President Ashraf Khan and Secretary-General Ahmed Khan Malik expressed their deepest sorrow and grief over the sad demise of the two journalists and condoled with the bereaved families.
The death of the two journalists had created a vacuum in the field of journalism, and their contributions to the field would always be remembered, they added.
