Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah Saturday assured the journalist community and their associations that the investigation into the murder case of Aziz Memon would be conducted free and fair. "We are keen to dig out the actual cause of his murder and will not spare the murderers," he added.
Shah said that the names included in the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) constituted and notified to investigate the murder case of Aziz Memon were recommended by the deceased's family members. "We have not included any name from the government side but all the names included in the JIT were recommended by the family members of late Aziz Memon through an application, he said and added "let the JIT do its work freely and submit their report." He urged the journalist community to avoid issuing any controversial statement which may directly or indirectly affect the JIT work.
He said "Pakistan People Party (PPP) believes in freedom of press, respects criticism and always uphold the rights of journalist community, therefore the Sindh government will stand with you [journalist community] whenever any highhandedness is made against you." The chief minister urged journalists, friends and relatives of Aziz Memon to cooperate with JIT in the investigation.
