Incidents of theft, carjacking and murder have registered an increase in the federal capital during the last week. Over seven cases of car lifting, six cases of theft including robbery, and three cases of murder were reported at various police stations of the city during last week.
According to data gathered by Business Recorder, majority of incidents were reported in the limits of Industrial area, Bhara Kahu, Sabzi Mandi, and Aabpara police stations.
Industrial Area police station registered one case of snatching at gunpoint and two cases of motor vehicle theft. Three armed robbers snatched cash from a person after he had just withdrawn it from an ATM in the limits of Industrial Area police station. When the person from whom armed robbers snatched cash started hue and cry, police personnel patrolling in the area reached there and chased the robbers.
When police encircled the robbers, they opened fire and police fired back in retaliation, resulting in the killing of a passerby and injuries to one robber and a police man. Police shifted the injured police personnel and the robber to a hospital and started search for the arrests of the other two robbers who managed to escape. Carjackers stole a car bearing registration number AHG-744 belonging to Muhammad Faisal valued at Rs 2,200,000, from the limits of Industrial Area police station.
Thieves also lifted a bike bearing registration number AKR-725 of Rs 90,000 belonging to Asfandiyar from the limits of Industrial Area police station. During last week, Bhara Kahu Police Station registered two cases each of kidnapping and one case of auto theft.
Auto thieves stole a bike bearing registration number LY-1126 belonging to Waseem Sajjad of value Rs 60,000 from the limits of Bhara Kahu Police Station. Nasir Mehmood informed Bhara Kahu Police Station that unidentified persons had kidnapped his brother, Mujeeb Rehman. Two cases each of motor vehicle theft were also reported at Karachi Company Police Station during last week.
Auto thieves stole a car bearing registration number ADL-637 belonging to Sadique Afridi of value Rs 500,000 and lifted another car bearing registration number AEF-242 belonging to Zobia Dastageer of value Rs 300,000.
