The MPAs reposed their complete trust in the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar. They announced to continue lending their unconditional support to the incumbent government. They assured the CM that they are siding with him and will continue to do so. It was also decided during the meeting to continue working jointly in order to serve people of the province.
Usman Buzdar maintained that "we will take you along in our journey to render public service and problems of the masses will be resolved on priority basis. We will advance forward and will also give you due respect and dignity," he said. "We are minutely weeding out corruption of previous rulers; change is in the offing and will inevitably come about."
He further stated that Assembly members are highly respectable for him and their genuine works will be done at all costs.
Commenting on this development, opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz ruled out any possibility of defection in the PML-N, saying the party is united.
"The PML-N is not a selected party and efforts aimed at creating rift in it will never succeed," Hamza said.
"The PML-N legislators will be called to have their viewpoint about their meeting with the CM."
PPP leader Hassan Murtaza said he has sought explanation from the PPP MPA who met the CM. On the other hand, sources claimed that there is grouping within the PTI as a number of party leaders still believe that Buzdar will be the main factor if the party's popularity declines in Punjab and leads to its eventual downfall.
The sources claimed that Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar is blamed of supporting efforts to oust Buzdar, or at least bring him under his wing. Aleem Khan is believed to be nursing a grudge against Buzdar for refusing to re-induct him in the cabinet.
"After all, Aleem Khan did generously finance the party's campaign for power in the province and thinks he could have been in Buzdar's place, but for the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) cases against him," they added.
