The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has limited interaction with the business community due to growing threat of the coronavirus.

Similarly, some other meetings were also canceled, except the very important internal meetings.

The FBR members also limited interaction with the business and trade persons keeping in view threats of the virus.

Sources said that the FBR chairperson, however, would continue to attend meetings with the prime minister and the adviser to the prime minister on finance and revenue, Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, besides meetings with top government authorities.

On Monday, the acting chairperson of the FBR attended meeting at the Finance Division to review the progress being made by the major sectors of the economy.

The FBR has also taken precautionary measures, including use of masks by the visitors during movement within the FBR House.

The use of biometrics by the FBR employees at the entry of the building has already been suspended under the precautionary measures.

Due to threat of the virus, the FBR employees are avoiding frequent interaction with the outsiders.

In the past, the FBR had held video-conferences with field formations for the purpose of chief commissioners' conferences and collectors' conferences.
