The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Wednesday following a grand operation against adulterators sealed a grinding unit and also foiled an attempt to ship a consignment of 15,000 hatchery eggs in the market.
According to details, the PFA watchdog teams raided Haji Sadiq Grinding unit and sealed it for producing red chili powder with fungus-infested chili after adding chemicals and colors to it. The grinding unit was functional in the area of Karol Ghatti Shalimar Town.
In another raid, the PFA caught a truck loaded with a huge cache of putrid eggs which was carried from Gujranwala to Lahore for supplying to bakeries and cookies manufacturing companies.
Similarly, the PFA Sargodha team raided Mahfooz Spice Grinding unit and sealed it on account of adulteration and confiscated a huge quantity of tainted red chili and a grinding machine. Moreover, food teams have stopped production of Danish Hotel and Madina Store by serving emergency prohibition orders.
In Rawalpindi, the PFA team shut down 'Mr. Chicken' and 'Fry Day Fast food' points for using substandard oil, not having proper storage system and unhygienic conditions.
