The Karachi Port handled 199,944 tonnes of cargo comprising 166,376 tonnes of import cargo and 33,568 tonnes of export cargo including 2,662 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargos of 166,376 tonnes comprised of 34,175 tonnes of containerised cargo; 22,982 tonnes of bulk cargo; 4,616 tonnes of rock phosphate; 2,350 tonnes of chemical and 102,253 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 33,568 tonnes comprised of 33,368 tonnes of containerised cargo and 200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 2,662 containers comprising of 1,585 containers of import and 1,077 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 235 of 20's and 675 40's loaded while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 283 of 20's and 243 of 40's loaded containers while nil of 20's and 154 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely CMA CGM Racing, Shiling, Diyala, Blue Moon, Chemtrans Adriatic and Grand Hermes carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eight vessels viz. Wan Hai-611, CMA CGM Racing, Diyala, Blue Moon, Sea Power, Songa Breeze, Voyager and Al-Yasat-II carrying containers, oil tankers, fertilizer and rock phosphate respectively currently at the berths.
There is one ship namely Liana carrying oil tanker expected to sail on Tuesday.
There are five vessels viz. Botany Bay, YM Excellence, Chemroute Brilliant, Immortal Gold and Oriental Protea carrying containers, oil tankers and chemical respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while three more vessels viz. Pacific Spring, APL Le Haver and MT Khairpur carrying containers and mogas respectively are expected to arrive on Wednesday.
