Seven injured in LPG tank explosion

At least seven people sustained burn injuries after a tanker filled with liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) exploded in Shahdara on Wednesday. Police said the incident occurred apparently due to negligence of the driver who fled from the scene. When the tanker exploded, huge flames of fire erupted and engulfed a nearby fuel station, damaged vehicles alongside the road and buildings.
Talking to reporters, SP Muhammad Naveed said they had received a call on their helpline (15) at around 9:00am about the gas leakage from a tanker. Meanwhile, he added, they dispatched a police team to the scene but the tanker had already been exploded before their arrival at around 9:10am. He said at least seven people sustained injuries in the blast and they were shifted to a hospital. Their condition was said to be out of danger, he said. There might have been big loss but due to implementation of lockdown less number of people was on the road. He added that police were looking for the driver after registration of an FIR against him.
