Another Corona virus patient, resident of Township Lahore, has died raising the death toll due to COVID-19 to nine in Pakistan. The sample of the deceased was taken from his residence and Thursday he breathed his last raising the number of deaths due to corona to two in Lahore.
Punjab's Primary and Secondary Healthcare department has confirmed the death. It has reported that with 70 new cases, the number of positive cases in Punjab rises to 405.
According to the department, 207 cases are of pilgrims in Dera Ghazi Khan, 22 in Multan, 103 people in Lahore, 22 in Gujrat, 8 in Gujranwala, 19 in Jhelum, 12 in Rawalpindi, three in Faisalabad, two in Mandi Bahauddin, one in Narowal, two in Mianwali and one each in Sargodha, Attock, Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan have tested positive for Covid-19.
Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid visited the 1000-bedded field hospitals made for Corona Emergency at Expo Centre Lahore on Thursday. CEO Mayo Hospital Prof Asad Aslam Khan and DG Rescue 1122 Dr Rizwan Naseer accompanied the Minister during the visit. The Minister reviewed the arrangements and preparations. Under the emergency arrangements, 1000-bedded has been prepared for COVID-19 patients.
The Minister said Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar had expressed satisfaction with the arrangements in Punjab so far and under directives from the Prime Minister Imran Khan, the Chief Minister is personally monitoring the situation in the province.
The Minister said: "In order to cope with this new crisis, all measures are being taken through multi-sectoral collaboration so that preparations are completely in place. At Kala Shahu Quarantine facility, 1,200 patients can be placed. Similarly, arrangements for suspected and confirmed patients have been made to contain and control the spread of the virus."
Dr Yasmin Rashid made an appeal to the people to stay indoors and adopt social distancing. "I request people to support our effort by staying indoors and stopping the transmission of virus. That is the only way we can stop the spread of virus. Please observe all safety precautions and play role in saving lives and controlling the pandemic."
