The Karachi Port handled 115,570 tonnes of cargo comprising 82,603 tonnes of import cargo and 32,967 tonnes of export cargo including 6,888 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.
The total import cargos of 82,603 tonnes comprised of 45,545 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,423 tonnes of rock phosphate; 2,288 tonnes of chemical; 10,147 tonnes of DAP and 17,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 32,967 tonnes comprised of 28,923 tonnes of containerised cargo and 4,044 tonnes of bulk cargo and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 6,888 containers comprising of 3,095 containers of import and 3,793 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,261 of 20's and 902 40's loaded while 02 of 20's and 14 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 719 of 20's and 285 of 40's loaded containers while 464 of 20's and 1,020 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely Wan Hai-611, Botany Bay and Songa Breeze carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessels viz. MOL Grandeur, Cosco Amrica, EVA Hong Kong and Chemroute Brilliant carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths.
There are two ships namely MOL Grandeur Chemroute Brilliant carrying containers and oil tanker respectively expected to sail on Friday.
There are five vessels viz. Northern Dexterity, Oriental Rose, Xin Rui Hai, Iris Victoria and Nippon Highway carrying containers, oil tanker, clinker, mogas and vehicle respectively due to arrive on Friday while six more vessels viz. Ever Deluxe, Thorsky, Szcazecin Trader, Fairchem Steed, Al Mahboobah and Ocean Success carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and general cargo respectively are expected to arrive on Saturday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 111,009 tonnes comprising of 102,516 tonnes of import cargo and 8,493 tonnes of export cargo including 2,972 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 102,516 tonnes includes 45,641 tonnes of coal; 200 tonnes of palm oil; 1,200 tonnes of palm kernel; 5,000 tonnes of soyabean; 2,500 tonnes of chemical and 47,975 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 8,493 tonnes includes 8,493 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,972 containers comprising of 2,525 containers import and 447 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There was one ship namely Xiamen carrying containers sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while three more ships namely Parnassos, IVS Hayakita and Gaschem Shinano carrying coal and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean, chemical, LNG and palm kernel respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as thirteen vessels viz. Thorsky, OOCL Atlanta, Kota Nekad, Seacon-8, Abu A Abyad, Nordic Tian Jin, BW Kobe, Klara Oldendroff, Tiger Winter, Gas Amazon, Asia Inspire, Chem Ranger and Horizon carrying containers, steel coil, coal, soyabean, canola, chemical, LPG and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were six ships viz. APL Antwerp, Thorsky, Seacon-8, Abu A Abyad, Nordic Tian Jin and Tiger Winter carrying containers, steel coils, coal and chemical respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Friday.
There was one ship namely APL Antwerp carrying containers due to arrive on Friday while two more ships namely Manet and Safmarine Ngami carrying containers are due to arrive on Saturday.
