Seven coronavirus positive cases were detected after testing 83 suspected patients who were brought to the quarantine established at the Areeja Campus of the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU) here on Friday.
With the addition of these cases, which have also been confirmed by Larkana's deputy commissioner, the number of COVID-19 positive cases so far detected in Sindh has increased to 440.
These figures were also shared by Meeran Yousuf, media coordinator to the health minister, with the media on Friday.
Out of these 440 confirmed cases in the province, 164 are in Karachi, one in Dadu, three in Hyderabad, seven in Larkana and 265 in Sukkur.
So far 4,662 tests of suspected pilgrims who had gone to Iran illegally and returned silently through Taftan border recently have been conducted.
She claimed that only one death had so far been reported in Sindh, and 11 new cases found in Karachi which were also infected through local transmission along with one case of local transmission in Hyderabad.
In this way, 19 new cases have been detected in Sindh till the filing of this report.
However, 40 new suspected cases were also brought to the quarantine at Areeja Campus on Friday morning. Their tests are yet to be conducted.
