Expressing concern over surge in the number of corona patients within two days, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shahbaz Sharif has demanded that meetings of Council of Common Interests (CCI) should be held on daily basis, to discuss the coronavirus health crisis, insisting that it was the "need of the hour".
Shahbaz also called for the provision of protective gear for doctors and medical professionals on an emergency basis. He said the increasing number of coronavirus patients is worrisome. It is the federal government's apathy and criminal act to neglect the provinces under such circumstances, he remarked.
In a statement, the opposition leader also claimed that the provinces were not briefed on the procedure of resource distribution.
Earlier, Shahbaz suggested to form a parliamentary committee to oversee the Corona Relief Fund to ensure its spending in a most judicious and expeditious manner. He urged National Assembly speaker to immediately convene meeting of the Standing Committee on Health to discuss challenges arising due to coronavirus pandemic in the country.
