The Karachi Port handled 78,427 tonnes of cargo comprising 44,100 tonnes of import cargo and 34,327 tonnes of export cargo including 5,069 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargos of 44,100 tonnes comprised of 40,663 tonnes of containerised cargo and 3,437 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 34,327 tonnes comprised of 9,667 tonnes of containerised cargo; 16,160 tonnes of mill scale; 5,900 tonnes of clinkers and 2,600 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 5,069 containers comprising of 2,720 containers of import and 2,349 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 996 of 20's and 862 40's loaded while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 255 of 20's and 119 of 40's loaded containers while 308 of 20's and 774 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely Hyundai Faith, Coral Star and Szcazecin Trader carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. Cosco Rotterdam, GSL Eleni, IRS Victoria, Diavolezza and Serene Susannah carrying containers, oil tanker, canola and clinkers respectively currently at the berths.
There are two ships namely Cosco Rotterdam and VTC Glory carrying containers and mill scale respectively expected to sail on Thursday.
There are five vessels viz. MOL Generosity, Ulanga, Cosco Oceania, Celsius Messina and Haruna Express carrying containers, chemical and mogas respectively due to arrive on Thursday while two more vessels viz. MT Quetta and Nordica Pia carrying oil tanker and molasses respectively are expected to arrive on Friday.
PORT QASIMA cargo volume of 187,666 tonnes comprising of 144,783 tonnes of import cargo and 42,883 tonnes of export cargo including 4,315 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 144,783 tonnes includes 13,000 tonnes of coal; 14,200 tonnes of palm oil; 3,355 tonnes of palm kernel; 5,715 tonnes of soyabean; 47,711 tonnes of LNG; 1,700 tonnes of LPG; 20,000 tonnes of pet coke and 39,102 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 42,883 tonnes includes 42,883 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 4,315 containers comprising of 2,058 containers import and 2,257 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There was one ship namely Pacific Honor carrying coal sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while five more ships namely MOL Generosity, Maersk Detroit, Aqua Vita Sky, Banun Dynasty and Asia Inspire carrying containers, soyabean, palm kernel and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of twelve ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean, chemical, LPG, LNG; palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as eight vessels viz. OOCL Atlanta, Maersk Brooklyn, Hong Fas Shanghai, Lyric Poet, BW Kobe, Klara Oldendroff, Gas Amazon and Horizon carrying containers, general cargo, soyabean, canola, LPG and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three ships viz. Maersk Brooklyn, Hong Fas Shanghai and Klara Oldendroff carrying containers, general cargo and canola respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Grain & Fertilizer Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There are two ships namely Telemann and GSL Eleni carrying containers due to arrive on Friday.
