Industrial & commercial sectors: FCCI urges government to avoid re-lockdown

President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) Rana Sikandar-e-Azam Khan has urged upon the government to formulate a comprehensive strategy by incorporating necessary precautionary, safety and protective measures to avoid re-lockdown of industrial and commercial sectors before the lifting of current restrictions.
He was participating in a video-link conference which was attended by Federal Secretary Commerce Ahmad Nawaz Sukhaira and representatives of different chambers of the country.
He said that government has exempted some industries from lockdown in view of their importance but their supportive and ancillary industry has not been provided this facility. This is creating hurdles in the functioning of exempted industry with full capacity.
He demanded that government should also identify the supporting and ancillary industry and also exempt it from lockdown so that the main industry could function with its full capacity.
Mian Javed Iqbal former President FCCI proposed that government should announce a sizeable fund to help out the unemployed workers. This fund should be distributed through chambers and other registered organizations under the supervision of local administration.
The concerned chambers and registered organizations should also arrange the equal amount provided by the government to contribute its role in this noble cause. It will not only lessen financial burden on the government but also provide maximum help to the unemployed daily wagers, he added.
Federal Secretary Commerce appreciated this proposal and assured that he will forward this proposal to the concerned quarter to review it. Meanwhile President FCCI Rana Sikandar-e-Azam told that a meeting of National Command and Operation Center held today discussed the problems confronted by the industrialists and traders across the country.
Quoting Advisor on Commerce Abdur Razaq Dawood, he told that these problems were discussed and a focal person has been nominated to redress genuine grievances of the business community.
