Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved one month additional salary for doctors and medical staff employed by the federal government.
In a review meeting on coronavirus that took place on Thursday, PM Imran Khan was briefed by Federal Minister Asad Omar, Special assistant Dr Zafar Mirza and Chairman National Disaster Management Authority Lt. General Muhammad Afzal on measures taken against the coronavirus.
It was decided in the meeting that a multidisciplinary research committee would be formed in view of the coming National Coordination Committee (NCC) meeting. This research committee will submit its recommendations in respect of various sectors to the NCC. This would enable the NCC to determine future course of action in light of these recommendations.
The Prime Minister while addressing the meeting said that the availability of accurate and factual data in the current situation is of paramount importance and no negligence in the provision of accurate data would be tolerated.
The Prime Minister said that best possible measures would be taken as per the circumstances of the country. The situation in Pakistan is different to the rest of the world, therefore, every decision will be made keeping the ground realities in view.
The meeting also decided to give additional salary to medical staff and doctors working under the federal government as a reward for their tireless efforts on the frontline against the virus.
