Punjab Chief Secretary Azam Suleman Khan has said that field hospitals for Covid-19 patients are being established across the province on the pattern of Expo Centre Lahore and two similar health facilities would be functional in Rawalpindi and Jhelum within next three days.
He expressed these views while presiding over a high-level meeting at camp office on Sunday. The meeting reviewed measure to curb spread of coronavirus, SOPs for companies in construction sector and strategy to send pilgrims to their hometowns. Prominent among the participants of the meeting were Inspector General of Police Shoaib Dastgir and Commissioner Lahore Saif Anjum besides other senior officers concerned.
The chief secretary said that all resources are being utilized to contain the spread of coronavirus in Punjab, adding that protection of people as well doctors and paramedics is the priority of the Punjab government. He also issued instructions to officers to submit their suggestions to finalize a strategy about construction industry.
The meeting was briefed that process of quarantine and testing of pilgrims in Dera Ghazi Khan and Multan has been completed and those people who tested negative for the virus would be sent back to their hometowns whereas others would be quarantined for 14 days.
The Commissioner Rawalpindi Division said that arrangements have been finalized in Rawalpindi to quarantine the passengers coming from Canada and other countries. The meeting also decided that in the wake of rising Covid-19 threat, the Christian community would be contacted in connection with the celebrations of Easter and Good Friday. The IG Police asked all the regional and district police officers to ensure safety of the officials performing duties related to the coronavirus. He also directed the cops to deal the citizens politely.
