The Karachi Port handled 216,239 tonnes of cargo comprising 59,168 tonnes of import cargo and 157,071 tonnes of export cargo including 2,549 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.
The total import cargos of 59,168 tonnes comprised of 27,144 tonnes of containerised cargo; 850 tonnes of bulk cargo; 1,000 tonnes of clinkers and 30,174 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 157,071 tonnes comprised of 95,573 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,010 tonnes of chemical; 18,900 tonnes of clinkers and 40,588 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 2,549 containers comprising of 956 containers of import and 1,593 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 299 of 20's and 201 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and 127 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 326 of 20's and 200 of 40's loaded containers while 225 of 20's and 321 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were eight ships namely Telemann, Ulanga, Hyundai Loyalty, Safmarine Nyassa, Al Mahboobah, Celsius Messina, Jal Laxmi and Serene Susannah carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and clinkers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eight vessels viz. Diyala, Telemann, Hyundai Loyalty, Safmarine Nyassa, Cosco Aden, MT Shalamar, DS Cougar and Jal Laxmi carrying containers, oil tanker and chemical respectively currently at the berths.
There are two ships namely Diyala and DS Cougar carrying containers and oil tanker respectively expected to sail on Monday.
There are five vessel viz. Botani Bay, Wan Hai-611, Oriental Cosmos, YN Juoiter and Great Cosmos carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and DAP respectively due to arrive on Monday while five more vessels viz. OOCL California, Clemens Schulte, SC Ningbo, Bomar Rossi and Han Xin carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively are expected to arrive on Tuesday.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 144,753 tonnes comprising of 112,966 tonnes of import cargo and 31,787 tonnes of export cargo including 1,856 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 112,966 tonnes includes 40,951 tonnes of coal; 4,991 tonnes of canola; 50,000 tonnes of LNG; 3,547 tonnes of general cargo and 3,477 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 31,787 tonnes includes 31,787 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 1,856 containers comprising of 183 containers import and 1,673 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There were two ships namely Safmarine Nyassa and Gaslog Chelsea carrying containers and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while another ship namely Jizan Gas carrying LNG is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, canola and LNG respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as fifteen vessels viz. MOL Courage, Calypso-N, Universal Bremen, Ilissos, Divine Gate, Star Topaz, Lyric Poet, BW Kobe, Adnes, Kazak, Gas Amazon, Vantage Dream, Sovereign, Falcan and Horizon carrying containers, coal, soyabean, chemical, LPG, gasoline, palm kernel and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were two ships viz. Diyala and SSI Triumph carrying containers and coal respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Pakistan International Bulk Terminal respectively on Monday.
There was one ship namely MSC Guilia carrying containers due to arrive on Monday while two more ships namely MSC Valencia and Maersk Hartford carrying containers are due to arrive on Tuesday.
