District administration Peshawar on Monday sealed five branches of commercial banks over violation of the standard operation procedure (SOPs) announced by the KP government for the prevention of coronavirus outbreak.
The action was taken during a visit of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Peshawar, Mohammad Ali Asghar along with Commander 102 Brigade. Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Ashfaq Khan and Assistant Commissioner (AC) Nauman Ali Shah were also accompanying the deputy commissioner.
The sealed branches are situated in Saddar (Cantonment) and Shuoba Bazaar. The officials of the district administration found long queues inside these branches in violation of the SOPs for observing social distancing.
Meanwhile, during visit the DC also arrested 55 persons over violation of the Section 144 of the Criminal Procedural Code (CrPC) declared for the restriction of the movement of the people to their houses.
The violators were arrested from University Road, Board Bazaar, Shuoba Bazaar and Khyber Bazaar while three branches of the commercial banks were sealed in Saddar (Cantonment) and two in Shuoba Bazaar over violation of the SOP for observing social distance to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
The district administration has adopted strict measures for preventing the gatherings of five or more persons in wake of the current situation.
