The Karachi Port handled 112,390 tonnes of cargo comprising 68,840 tonnes of import cargo and 43,550 tonnes of export cargo including 7,592 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargos of 68,840 tonnes comprised of 57,926 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,214 tonnes of bulk cargo and 3,700 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 43,550 tonnes comprised of 32,600 tonnes of containerised cargo 10,950 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 7,592 containers comprising of 4,176 containers of import and 3,416 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,181 of 20's and 1,345 40's loaded while 41 of 20's and 132 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 645 of 20's and 709 of 40's loaded containers while 215 of 20's and 569 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were two ships namely Clemens Schulte and Oriental Cosmos carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were two vessels carrying containers currently at the berths.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 141,906 tonnes comprising of 112,304 tonnes of import cargo and 29,602 tonnes of export cargo including 3,551 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 112,304 tonnes includes 41,700 tonnes of coal; 8,500 tonnes of palm oil; 14,600 tonnes of canola; 1,983 tonnes of LPG; 1,770 tonnes of palm kernel; 3,675 tonnes of chemical; 2,209 tonnes of general cargo and 37,867 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 29,602 tonnes includes 29,602 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,551 containers comprising of 1,993 containers import and 1,558 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There was one ship namely Adnes carrying chemical sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while five more ships namely Robert Rickmers, Lian Hua Song, SSI Triumph, Divine Gate and Gas Amazon carrying containers, general cargo, coal and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of twelve ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, canola, LPG, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as ten vessels viz. MOL Courage, Calypso-N, Universal Bremen, Star Topaz, BW Kobe, Lyric Poet, Serena-R, Gulf Mist, Sovereign and Al Oraiq carrying containers, coal, soyabean, cement, chemical, gasoline and LNG respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three ships viz. MOL Globe, Gulf Mist and Al Oraiq carrying containers, chemical and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
There was one ship namely MOL Globe carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday while two more ships namely MOL Courage and Hugo Schulte carrying containers are due to arrive on Thursday.
