Crime rate in the capital remained low for the second consecutive week as only a few cases of theft were reported; the police however, registered several cases against violators of Section 144 imposed in the wake of coronavirus outbreak.

The various police stations of Islamabad registered several cases against those who violated Section 144 imposed by the district administration to discourage gathering of people, a necessary step for containing the Covid-19.

Following the lockdown imposed by the government there are few people on the streets, street crime and fatal road accidents have gone down due to police presence in the city as well as entry and exits points of the federal capital.

The continued lockdown has contributed towards a low rate in burglary and vehicle thefts.

Severe police pickets, effective patrolling and huge deployment at entry and exit points have caused a deterrent for criminals from entering the city from outside.

Robbery, motor vehicle thefts and kidnappings too have decreased significantly in number.

During the last week, Muhammad Khan registered a complaint with Shehzad Town Police Station that unidentified people kidnapped his close relative Nazir Khan.

Another, Fazl Khan informed Khanna Police Station that unidentified robbers have kidnapped his daughter. Imtiaz Hussain informed Karachi Company Police Station that unidentified robbers stole gold ornament and other valuables worth Rs700,000 from his house.
