Fearing local transmission of virus after the emergence of dozens of coronavirus cases, the Lahore Administration Saturday sealed Raiwind and several other areas of the provincial capital.
Deputy Commissioner Danish Afzaal confirmed restricting unnecessary movement in these hotspots after reports of 66 COVID-19 patients. He said that the process of screening of 574 suspected patients in these localities had been initiated. "Violation of Section 144 would not be tolerated; these localities would remain fully or partially sealed till the removal of potential hotspots," he added.
According to the district administration, several cases were reported in various part of the city, which led to the partial or complete lockdown. Thirteen areas that were sealed included Raiwind City, Sikandria Colony at Samanabad, Bedian Road, China Scheme Gujarpura, Begum Kot at Shahdara, Chah Meeran Shadbagh, Small Industries Society Defence, Rustom Park, Gulshan-e-Ravi, Rehmanpura, Wahdat Colony, Bahria Town, Railways Colony's Engine Shed and Saddar.
The total number of Covid-19 cases in Lahore has reached 396 and all are under treatment at various health centres.
