Activities of Karachi Port and Port Qasim

The Karachi Port handled 156,800 tonnes of cargo comprising 116,875 tonnes of import cargo and 39,925 tonnes of export cargo including 524 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.

The total import cargos of 116,875 tonnes comprised of 43,552 tonnes of containerised cargo; 39,921 tonnes of bulk cargo; 2,760 tonnes of chemical; 7,122 tonnes of DAP; 6,734 tonnes of canola and 16,786 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 39,925 tonnes comprised of 14,925 tonnes of containerised cargo; 900 tonnes of bulk cargo; 15,700 tonnes of clinkers and 8,400 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 524 containers comprising of 214 containers of import and 310 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 50 of 20's and 44 of 40's loaded while 18 of 20's and 29 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 162 of 20's and 74 of 40's loaded containers while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were nine ships namely CSCL Bohai Sea, Thorsky, Hyundai Mercury, Jal Pari, MT Quetta, Chem Ranger, Vectis Isle, Africa Star and Iliana carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels viz. Hyundai Mercury, Manet, Dolphin-II, Ginga Courage, Haruna Express and Aisha Sarwar carrying containers, oil tankers and clinkers respectively currently at the berths.

There is one ship namely Manet carrying containers expected to sail on Monday while two more ships namely Dolphin-II and Darina carrying containers are expected to sail on Tuesday.

There is one vessel viz. Bay Yasu carrying chemical due to arrive on Monday while five more vessels viz. Southamption Express, Performance, Kota Gunawan, Chembulk Singapore and Liberty Pride carrying containers, molasses and vehicle respectively are expected to arrive on Tuesday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 136,331 tonnes comprising of 87,406 tonnes of import cargo and 48,925 tonnes of export cargo including 2,897 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.

As many as 2,897 containers comprising of 322 containers import and 2,575 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

There were three ships namely Thorsky, AS Patricia and CMA CGM Ivanhoe carrying containers sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while two more ships namely Wariya Naree and Bay Yasu carrying coal and chemical respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, cement, soyabean, chemical, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as five vessels viz. Aga Amenon, STC Sentoza, Al Sheehamia, Gas Husky and Glory Harvest carrying containers, coal, LPG and LNG respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were seven ships viz. Aga Amenon, MSC Bilbao, MSC Gina, STC Sentoza, Al Sheehamia, Gas Husky and Glory Harvest carrying containers, coal, LPG and LNG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Engro Elengy Terminal respectively on Monday.

There was one ship namely MSC Gina carrying containers due to arrive on Monday while two more ships namely CPO Hamburg and Maersk Columbus carrying containers are due to arrive on Tuesday.
