The Karachi Port handled 124,424 tonnes of cargo comprising 66,061 tonnes of import cargo and 58,363 tonnes of export cargo including 8,732 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargos of 66,061 tonnes comprised of 55,498 tonnes of containerised cargo and 10,563 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 58,363 tonnes comprised of 47,113 tonnes of containerised cargo; 550 tonnes of bulk cargo and 11,700 tonnes of clinkers.
As many as 8,732 containers comprising of 4,240 containers of import and 4,492 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,013 of 20's and 1,365 of 40's loaded while 63 of 20's and 217 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,214 of 20's and 766 of 40's loaded containers while 134 of 20's and 806 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There was one ship namely Southamption Express carrying containers sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There was one vessel carrying containers currently at the berths.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 176,121 tonnes comprising of 133,922 tonnes of import cargo and 42,199 tonnes of export cargo including 3,865 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 133,922 tonnes includes 36,000 tonnes of diesel oil; 35,498 tonnes of coal; 12,993 tonnes of palm oil; 12,800 tonnes of soyabean; 2,305 tonnes of palm kernel; 3,090 tonnes of LPG and 31,236 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 42,199 tonnes includes 42,199 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,865 containers comprising of 1,644 containers import and 2,221 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There was one ship namely Rigel carrying palm oil sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while three more ships namely MOL Gateway, Maersk Columbus and Tomson Gas carrying containers and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean, LPG, diesel oil, palm kernel and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as nine vessels viz. MOL Courage, Jeppesen Maersk, Nereus Island, Universal Bremen, Star Monica, Star Topaz, Lyric Poet, Epic Manhattan and Jag Lyall carrying containers, steel coils, coal, soyabean, LPG and crude oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were two ships viz. Kiel Trader and Nereus Island carrying containers and steel coils respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There were three ships namely Osaka Tower, Cosco Japan and Maersk Bentonville carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday while another ship namely Kiel Trader carrying containers are due to arrive on Friday.
