A fresh weather system is likely to grip the central and upper parts of the country until next Monday, the Met Office said on Thursday.
This system is expected to unleash rain and wind-thunderstorm with a light hailstorm in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Chakwal, Attock, Mianwali, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Layyah, Khushab, M B Din, Hafizabad, Gujaranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Shiekupura, Lahore, Kasur, Faisalabad, Jhang, TT Singh, Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan from Friday until next Monday.
Chagai, Noshuki, Quetta, Zhob, Harnai, Barkhan, Kohlu, Loralai, DG Khan, Rajanpur, Multan, Khanewal, Sahiwal, Okara, R Y Khan, Bahwalnagar and Bahawalpur are also likely to receive rain-thunderstorm from Thursday night till Friday.
"A shallow westerly wave is affecting western parts of the country and likely to enter upper & central parts on Friday and may persist till Monday," the Met said.
In the next 24 hours, mainly partly cloudy weather is expected in the most parts of the country. However, rain wind-thunderstorm with hailstorm is expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, north Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.
In last 24 hours, weather remained dry in the most parts of the country. However, in Astore 8mm, Kalam 2mm, Garhidupatta, Rawalkot, Bunji and Skardu 1mm, of rain was recorded. Maximum temperature was observed in Chhor and Mithi as 41 degrees Celsius, each.
