The rupee showed mixed trends against the dollar in the currency market on Thursday for both buying and selling in Interbank and Open markets.
INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: The rupee remained at the same level for buying as on Wednesday closing at Rs 166.80 against the dollar. However in case of selling, it closed at Rs 167.20, which was 10 paisas lower as compared to Wednesday.
OPEN MARKET RATES: For USD, the rupee went up by 20 paisas for buying rate, closing at Rs 166.50 while it remained at the same level for selling rate, closing at Rs 167.
Against the Euro, Rupee closed at Rs 179 and Rs 181 for buying and selling respectively, which was one rupee lower as compared to rates on Wednesday.
In case of UAE Dirham, buying rate went down by 30 paisas, closing at Rs 43.50 while selling rate went up by 30 paisas, closing at Rs 44.50. Buying and selling rates against the Saudi Riyal in the open market also showed a trend similar to that of UAE Dirham. Buying rate closed at Rs 41.50, which was 10 paisas lower and selling rate closed at Rs. 42.50, which was 50 paisas higher than Wednesday's rates.
LAHORE
The Pak rupee stayed unchanged on buying side while it appreciated its worth on selling side in relation to the greenback in the local currency market on Thursday.
According to currency dealers, the greenback did not observe any change throughout the trading session for buying and ended at Rs 167.00 whereas it lost 20 paisas for selling and ended at Rs 167.80 against the overnight closing rate of Rs 168.00.
Furthermore, the national currency recovered its day earlier losses versus the pond sterling. Consequently, the pound's buying and selling rates declined from the Wednesday's closing trend of Rs 202.50 and Rs 204.50 to Rs 201.00 and Rs 203.50 respectively, they added.
ISLAMABAD
The dollar gained 25 paisa against the rupee at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Thursday.
The dollar opened at Rs 167.25(buying) and Rs 167.35(selling) against last rate Rs 167(buying) and Rs 167.10(selling).
It closed at Rs 167.25(buying) and Rs 167.35(selling).
The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold were Rs. 95,700 and Rs 95,500(buying) in the local Sarafa (gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
