PML-N President and National Assembly Opposition Leader has thanked the US Ambassador for apprising him of the expanding partnership between the United States and Pakistan in the shared fight against the new coronavirus.

In his letter to the Ambassador, Shehbaz said the pandemic poses the most significant challenge not only to human life but also to the socio-economic fabric of humanity. He expressed deep gratitude for all the assistance and cooperation that the United Stales is providing to Pakistan to effectively fight the virus.

Shehbaz pointed out that he has always maintained that the bilateral relations between our two countries are deeper and more interconnected than what is generally considered. It is evidenced by the amazing strength they have exhibited at the time of crises such as the present one, he added.

The PMLN said, "Covid-19 knows no borders and has been relentless in its ferocity and havoc it has caused across the continents. If there has to be an argument in favour of international cooperation, the global nature of the pandemic just highlights it sufficiently. A failure to deal with the scourge collectively has consequences. The situation is ripe for the United States to take a leadership role in the fight against Covid-19".

Shehbaz extended deepest sympathies and condolences on the loss of precious lives due to the coronavirus in the US. And hoped the American people will be able to overcome this virus sooner rather than later.-PR
