Popular Turkish series Dirili?: Ertu?rul will finally hit screens this week on the first of Ramazan after PTV acquired exclusive rights from Turkey's state broadcaster TRT to dub and screen the series in Pakistan late last year.

Dirili?: Ertu?rul will air everyday in Urdu at 9:10pm on PTV Home. Here's a preview so you know what to expect.

The show, often referred to as the Turkish Game of Thrones, was also recommended by Prime Minister Imran Khan in October 2019 in a bid to counter Islamophobia and encourage wider distribution and viewership of entertainment centred around Islamic history, principles and norms.

The show's title translates to Resurrection: Ertu?rul and is based on the history of the Muslim Oghuz Turks. It takes place in the 13th century and centres around the life of Ertu?rul, the father of Osman I, who was the founder of the Ottoman Empire.

Faisal Javed Khan, PTI senator and chairman of the Standing Committee on Information, Broadcasting and Heritage, thanked Turkish politician Ali ?ahin, who chairs the Interparliamentary Pak-Turk Friendship Group, for the cooperation, saying, "It's an honour for Pakistan to broadcast such a great masterpiece - a fantastic exhibition of Turkish culture & Islamic faith - an amazing journey thru the phenomenal Turkish history."

The show is already popular around the world and has aired in over 60 countries, particularly in Muslim and diaspora communities, but its appeal is widespread: fans range from cricketer Shahid Afridi to Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro.
