Sources said that NAB chairman had assigned the inquiry to Director General (DG) Rawalpindi Irfan Mangi.
The federal government on April 4 had made public reports regarding wheat and sugar crises of a high-level inquiry committee headed by Director General (DG) Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) into the sugar and wheat crises.
The NAB official said that the bureau had also initiated two inquires against the officers/officials of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), management of River Garden Housing Society, and inquiries of mega corruption cases in the Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL).
The EBM also decided to send the complaint verification against management of International Islamic University and others to relevant department as per the law.
The official said that the meeting approved closing inquiries against officers/officials of the Privatization Commission of Pakistan and others, Justice Malik Muhammad Qayyum, former attorney general of Pakistan and others, Professor Dr Ikramullah Khan, head of dermatology, Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), and others, managing committee of Interior Employees Cooperative Housing Society, Raja Ali Akbar and others owing to lack of evidence as per the law.
