Prime Minister Imran Khan's test result for coronavirus came out negative on Wednesday.

He was tested after Faisal Edhi, the head of the Edhi Foundation tested positive for coronavirus. The PM met Faisal, the son of late Pakistani philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi last week on Wednesday.

Special Assistant to PM on Health Zafar Mirza tweeted that PM was tested today for SARS-CoV-2 'the virus strain that causes coronavirus disease'. "The test used was a polymerase chain reaction (PCR). I am happy to report that his test is NEGATIVE," he said.

On Tuesday, Faisal announced that he contracted coronavirus. He had insisted on being tested since he had been on the ground working with patients.

Following his test result, the authorities decided to test his family as well as employees of the Edhi Foundation.
