Activities of Karachi Port

The Karachi Port handled 151,064 tonnes of cargo comprising 74,424 tonnes of import cargo and 76,640 tonnes of export cargo including 6,986 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargos of 74,424 tonnes comprised of 46,696 tonnes of containerised cargo; 20,644 tonnes of general cargo; 5,854 tonnes of bulk cargo and 1,230 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 76,640 tonnes comprised of 46,074 tonnes of containerised cargo; 559 tonnes of general cargo; 17,300 tonnes of bulk cargo and 12,707 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 6,986 containers comprising of 2,913 containers of import and 4,073 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,193 of 20's and 844 of 40's loaded while 04 of 20's and 14 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,064 of 20's and 883 of 40's loaded containers while 399 of 20's and 422 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely Botany Bay, CSL Sophine, CMA CGM Lamartine, DS Congar and Chemroad Journey carrying containers, oil tanker and chemical respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were four vessels viz. carrying containers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
