The Karachi Port handled 63,298 tonnes of cargo comprising 33,356 tonnes of import cargo and 29,942 tonnes of export cargo including 4,221 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargos of 33,356 tonnes comprised of 25,766 tonnes of containerised cargo; 715 tonnes of bulk cargo and 6,875 tonnes of canola.
The total export cargos of 29,942 tonnes comprised of 13,492 tonnes of containerised cargo; 15,450 tonnes of clinkers and 1,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 4,221 containers comprising of 1,906 containers of import and 2,315 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 422 of 20's and 742 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 301 of 20's and 123 of 40's loaded containers while 06 of 20's and 881 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Telemann, Wieland, CMA CGM Butterfly, Chembulk Singapore and Beijing Venture carrying containers, molasses and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There was one vessel viz. CMA CGM Butterfly carrying containers currently at the berths. There is no ship expected to sail on Thursday.
There are four vessels viz. Cosco Asia, X-Press Bardsey, Mid Fortune and RW Eagle carrying containers, chemical and mogas respectively due to arrive on Thursday while three vessels viz. Nordspring, Sea Challenger and Grace carrying containers, oil tanker and clinkers respectively are expected to arrive on Friday.
The total import cargo of 135,306 tonnes includes 56,816 tonnes of coal; 23,750 tonnes of LNG; 13,100 tonnes of palm oil; 5,000 tonnes of soyabean; 9,565 tonnes of chemical and 27,075 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 29,659 tonnes includes 29,659 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,986 containers comprising of 1,425 containers import and 1,561 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There was one ship namely Gulf Mist carrying chemical sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while three more ships namely Express Bardsey, Sider Tis and Chemroad Polaris carrying containers, coal and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, soyabean, chemical, LNG and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as thirteen vessels viz. MOL Courage, Telemann, Kiel Trader, Maersk Jalan, CMA CGM Butterfly, Pacific Advance, Swallow, Universal Bremen, Lady Maria, Star Topaz, True Friend, Gas Zeus and Nardic Anny carrying containers, coal, soyabean, cement, LPG and mogas respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five ships viz. Kiel Trader, Lady Maria, Pacific Advance, Gas Zeus and Songa Opal carrying containers, coal, LPG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There was one ship namely Songa Opal carrying palm oil due to arrive on Thursday while two more ships namely CMA CGM Butterfly and Epic Salina carrying containers and LPG respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
