Minister for Industries and Production Hammad Azhar has briefed the prime minister about the details of Rs75 billion package and stated that four million persons would benefit from the package.
While chairing a review meeting on COVID-19, the prime minister was informed the Rs75 billion package was being implemented with the collaboration of the Ministry of Industries, and Ehsaas programme to support four million daily wagers.
The prime minister was also informed that under the package, electricity bills of small businesses would be paid for the next three months.
The minister also apprised the prime minister about the implementation of industrial package, and stated that opening of industrial units of steel, cement and other units would be done in the second phase.
Special Assistant on Health Dr Zafar Mirza informed the prime minister about the latest situation of coronavirus in the country as well as about the percentage of new patients, their recovery and fatalities.
The prime minister was informed that compared to other countries, especially in the West, the rate of new cases as well as rate of deaths had been relatively low in the country. The chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) informed the meeting about the latest situation of testing, protective equipments, N-95 masks, and ventilators in the country.
