Covid-19: Positive cases surge to 365 in Islamabad

The number of Covid-19 positive cases in the federal capital has increased rapidly during the last few days and total cases have surged to 365 on Saturday.

According to official data, majority of the patients in the city (71 percent) is male and 29 percent are females. Age group 30 to 39 is worst hit because mostly people in this age bracket are vulnerable due to not following social distancing policy, and are sometimes careless, it says.

Out of 365 cases, 31 have been reported from Bara Kahu, 32 in Tarlai, 36 in Sector I-10, 25 in Lohi Bher, 14 in Sector G-10, 16 in sector G-8, 14 in Sector G-6, 15 in Sector G-7, 11 in Sector G-9, 14 in Sector F-6, 10 in Sector I-8, seven in Shah Allah Ditta, 10 in Shehzad Town, five in sector F-10, seven in Sohan, 13 in Sector G-11, four in Sector G-5, and five in Kirpa.

Similarly, three cases have been reported from Sector F-8, three in I-11, three in Rawat, three from an unspecified address, three from Ali Pur, and 11 from sector G-13.

Seven positive cases of Covid-19 have been reported from Sector F-7, two from Sector G-12, two from F-5, two from Bari Imam, 10 from Sector I-8, five from E-11, two from Sector H-13, two from Sector H-8, one from Sector I-12, one from B-17, two from Khana Pul, one from Koral, one from Model Town Humak, one from Pindbewal, one from Rawal Town, and one from Sihala.

Out of total cases, 44 people have so far recovered and four died in the city. Following increase in number of coronavirus cases the administration has sealed two sub-sectors of I-10 including I-10/1 and 1-10/4.

The administration will open both the sectors after completion of door-to-door surveillance and screening.

Bhara Kahu, Rimsha Colony in H-8, Shahzad Town and several localities in Taramri were previously sealed by the capital administration due to the Covid-19 outbreak. The localities in Taramri remain sealed though the other areas have been reopened.

With the rise of the pandemic in the federal capital, the tally of Covid-19 infections have reached 18,114 in Pakistan. According to the official data, Punjab has 6,733 cases followed by Sindh 6,675, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa 2,799, Balochistan 1136, Gilgit-Baltistan 340, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) 66.

Till the filling of this report, 4,715 Covid-19 patients have so far recovered, and 417 have died across the country. The district administration carried out disinfection spray in sectors I-10, G-10 and F-10.
