Advisor to KP CM on Information, Ajmal Khan Wazir has said that steps are being taken for conducting corona tests of journalists, adding the community will be provided all possible facilities and their problems will be resolved on priority basis.
This was stated by him during a meeting with the office bearers of Peshawar Press Club (PPC) and Khyber Union of Journalists (KhUJ) here at Civil Secretariat on Monday.
Director General (DG) Information, Imdadullah, President PPC, Syed Bukhar Shah, general secretary, Imran Yousafzai, Mehmood Jan Babar, Nasir Khan, Aziz Buneri and others were also present on the occasion. The meeting they discussed difficulties of journalists and situation arising out of the coronavirus and assured the resolution of the problems of journalists.
The Advisor on Information said that besides, performing their professional duties, journalists are also rendering frontline service in creating awareness against coronavirus. He said that coronavirus has confirmed in 7 journalists and steps are being taken for the protection of others.
He assured that coronavirus affected journalists will not be left along at this critical juncture and urged for quarantining of the affected journalists in their houses and follow guidelines framed by the provincial government.
He said that district administration and other concerned authorities would be contacted for conducting early disinfectant spray in press club and other affected areas. He said that health department would be approached for conducting timely tests to enable journalists to perform their professional duties in better manner.
The Advisor said that more corona positive cases in the province are reported in the province due to arrival of people from United Arab Emirates (UAE), Afghanistan and Iran, but now most of them have been recovered and left for concerned districts and their houses. He said that violation of the guidelines announced by the government during lockdown can deteriorate the situation.
