Capital witnesses increasing crime rate

Despite partial lockdown imposed in the wake of Covid-19 spread and huge presence of the police personnel in the federal capital, the incidents of carjacking and various kinds of theft are increasing with each passing day.

According to data gathered by Business Recorder, five cases of theft, four cases of car lifting and one case of murder was reported to city's various police stations during last week.

Crime rate in the city had significantly declined during the early weeks of lockdown. The most favourite areas for the criminal gangs were within the limits of Koral and Shalimar police stations during the last week.

Similarly, the city police registered dozens of FIRs against the violators of Section 144 imposed in the wake of Covid-19 spread. During the last week, Koral Police registered two cases each of robbery and one case of auto theft.

Muhammad Saghir informed Koral Polices Station that unidentified robbers stole iron rods worth Rs 500,000 from his under construction house. Another, Haider Ali lodged a complaint with Koral Police Station that unidentified robbers stole two mobile phones, camera and laptop worth Rs 20,000 from his home.

Auto thieves stole a bike bearing registration number RIK-3887 worth Rs 100,000 parked outside his home in the limits of Koral Police Station. In the same period, Shalimar police registered one case of robbery and one of pick pocketing.

Waseem lodged a complaint with Shalimar Police Station that two unidentified persons riding in a taxi cab snatched Rs34,000 from him. Another Shaiub Ali registered a complaint with Shalimar Police Station that unidentified pocketeers stole his mobile phone worth Rs 40,000 during shopping.

Motor vehicle thieves stole a bike bearing registration number MLB-6223 belonged to Ameer Hamza worth Rs 35,000 in the limits of Aabpra Police Station. Muhammad Afzal informed Tarnol Police Station that the accused, Zahid Shah, and others snatched loader vehicle from his driver, Muhammad Imran.
