The Karachi Port handled 70,380 tonnes of cargo comprising 65,739 tonnes of import cargo and 4,641 tonnes of export cargo including 2,151 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargos of 65,739 tonnes comprised of 21,527 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,727 tonnes of bulk cargo and 39,485 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 4,641 tonnes comprised of 2,781 tonnes of containerised cargo; 360 tonnes of bulk cargo and 1,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 2,151 containers comprising of 1,700 containers of import and 451 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 252 of 20's and 724 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 79 of 20's and 41 of 40's loaded containers while 08 of 20's and 141 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There was one ship namely Sterling carrying containers sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were three vessels carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.
PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 123,662 tonnes comprising of 114,694 tonnes of import cargo and 8,968 tonnes of export cargo including 2,322 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargo of 114,694 tonnes includes 21,100 tonnes of coal; 35,779 tonnes of diesel oil; 8,000 tonnes of palm oil; 5,000 tonnes of soyabean; 4,758 tonnes of chemical; 3,957 tonnes of general cargo; 950 tonnes of LPG and 35,150 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 8,968 tonnes includes 8,968 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,322 containers comprising of 1,850 containers import and 472 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There were two ships namely Han Yi and Chemroad Wing carrying general cargo and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while six more ships namely MSC Heidi, Galini, ML Swallow, Glory Harvest and Al-Salam-II carrying containers, coal, LPG and diesel oil cargo expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eleven ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, soyabean, chemical, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as seventeen vessels viz. CMA CGM Al-Maviva, Acadia Park, Tisntao Express, Lucky Sea, African Spoonbill, SSI Victory, Gant Muse, Glory Navigator, Seneca, Panorea, White Purl, Gas Athena, Celia, Gas Amazon, Tomson Gas, Nardic Anny and Chang An-1 carrying containers, rice, coal, soyabean, LPG, mogas and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were eight ships viz. Maersk Santosa, Lucky Sea, African Spoonbill, SSI Victory,, White Purl, Gas Athena, Nardic Anny and Chang An-1 carrying containers, coal, rice, LPG, mogas and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday.
There was one ship namely Maersk Santosa carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday while another ship namely MOL Generosity carrying containers is due to arrive on Wednesday.
